Sorbsan Flat Alginate Wound Dressing. The fibres of Sorbsan Silver Flat swell and form Sodium-Calcium alginate gel in contact with wound exudate. A sterile non-woven calcium alginate wound dressing. Alginate has been used to prepare different forms of materials for wound dressings such as hydrogels films wafers foams nanofibres and in topical formulations. Suitable for use on moderate to heavily exuding wounds.
The fibres swell and form a sodium-calcium alginate gel on contact with wound exudate. Will promote haemostasis in bleeding wounds. The fibres of Sorbsan Silver Flat swell and form Sodium-Calcium alginate gel in contact with wound exudate. As with Sorbsan Flat he fibres of Sorbsan Ribbon swell and form Sodium-Calcium alginate gel in contact with wound exudate. Sorbsan Silver Flat is a sterile non-woven calcium alginate wound dressing impregnated with silver high in Mannuronic acid and low in Guluronic acid. Alginate dressings are highly absorbent and suitable for use on exuding wounds and for the promotion of autolytic debridement of debris in very moist wounds.
The average corrected zone of inhibition at pH 7 was 36mm versus 49mm at pH 55.
Alginate dressings also act as a haemostatic but caution is needed because blood clots can cause the dressing to adhere to the wound surface. As with Sorbsan Flat he fibres of Sorbsan Packing swell and form Sodium-Calcium alginate gel in contact with wound exudate. High in mannuronic acid and low in guluronic acid. Alginate dressings are highly absorbent and suitable for use on exuding wounds and for the promotion of autolytic debridement of debris in very moist wounds. Alginate dressings also act as a haemostatic but caution is needed because blood clots can cause the dressing to adhere to the wound surface. In critically colonised andor infected wounds this action minimises the risk of untreated gaps in the wound bed which will delay healing.
