DEFINITION A solitary pulmonary nodule SPN is a round or oval opacity smallerthan 3 cm in diameter that is completely surrounded by pulmonary parenchyma and is not associated with lymphadenopathy atelectasis or pneumonia. Because of the seriousness of misinterpretation of benign calcification in an uncalcified nodule we reviewed the various effects of several reconstruction algorithms. There may also be multiple nodules.
The solitary pulmonary nodule SPN is frequently seen on chest radiographs and computed tomography CT.
